How to Care for Your Wivatara Bag
Each Wivatara bag is crafted with care and natural materials that deserve gentle maintenance to preserve its beauty and longevity. Follow these simple steps to keep your bag looking its best.
Unique Characteristics
Each of our handwoven bags carries its own character — a reflection of the artisan’s touch and the natural beauty of the materials.
Subtle variations in color, texture, and weave are not imperfections but signs of authenticity — a reminder that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
Every bag tells its own story, shaped by human hands and time.
Handle with Care
To preserve the structure and longevity of your bag, avoid carrying overly heavy items. The delicate weave and natural fibers are best suited for daily essentials — not for extended weight or sharp-edged objects.
Using your bag to carry items like a laptop, tablet, or several books may strain the weave over time and affect its elegant form.
Treat it gently, and it will accompany you beautifully for years
Keep It Dry & Breathe Freely
Natural fibers love fresh air but dislike moisture. Always store your bag in a dry, well-ventilated space, away from damp corners or enclosed cupboards. If the air feels humid, let your bag breathe in open air to preserve its shape and prevent mold.
Store with Care
When it’s time to store your bag, keep it in a breathable cotton or linen dust bag, never plastic. Add a small silica gel packet or natural moisture absorber inside to protect it from humidity. If stored for a long time, take it out occasionally to let it breathe and reconnect with fresh air.
When not in use, help your bag maintain its shape by filling it with tissue paper, clean newspaper, or soft fabric. Avoid placing heavy objects on top — this keeps your bag perfectly structured and ready to use.
Clean with Kindness
Wipe away light dust or dirt using a soft, slightly damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a soft-bristled brush — always gentle, never soaking. This keeps the woven fibers strong and beautiful, maintaining the integrity of their natural texture.
Dry with Care
If your bag becomes wet, pat it dry immediately with a clean towel. Allow it to air-dry naturally in a breezy area. If you need a quicker option, you may use a hair dryer on a cool or low-heat setting. Keep it at least 20–30 cm away from the surface and move it constantly to avoid overheating any area.
Sustainable by Nature
Taking care of your handwoven bag is an act of mindfulness — it honors the craftsmanship, preserves natural materials, and supports sustainable living.
Each small moment of care helps your bag last longer, age beautifully, and tell your story for years to come.
Embrace the Sunlight
Sunlight is nature’s gentle purifier. Every summer, or after cleaning, place your handwoven bag under sunlight for about 3–4 hours. This helps remove any lingering moisture, refresh the fibers, and restore a clean, natural scent.
Signature Craftsmanship
Every Wivatara creation is individually handwoven, often taking days to complete. The patterns, fibers, and natural dyes used reflect generations of weaving expertise passed down through families and communities in rural Thailand. Each artisan adds their own rhythm to the weave, ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical — each one a quiet expression of artistry and authenticity.
